ASICS claims to have made the most comfortable sneaker ever

The Japanese brand prides itself on having achieved the highest level of cushioning and flexibility in its new line of sneakers.

A shoe product of biomechanical research, athletic tests and sustainable methods, to offer greater comfort and respect for the environment.

To do this, the director of the ASICS running category, Andreas Moll, resorted to an irrefutable dramatic effect: he dropped an egg from a height of more than a meter and a half -in free fall- onto a plate made of the new FF Blast™ Plus Eco material used in the sole. The egg remained intact, and the material demonstrated its extraordinary impact-absorbing capacity. After the demonstration, the egg was cracked to show that it was not a hard-boiled egg, in case there were any doubts.

This is how the properties of the new ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25 sole were exposed, which until today is proposed as the most comfortable in history. According to the brand's manifesto, users who wear these sneakers "will feel like they are landing on clouds" made possible by greater cushioning and a softer footstep, with less impact on the environment.

The "secret" is in the sole, made with the new FF Blast™ Plus Eco material, a super-light foam produced with bio-based polymers and supplies from renewable sources, such as the leftover waste from sugar cane processing. The sole in the forefoot has a thickness of 22 mm and in the heel 30 mm leaving a drop of 8 mm. It is 2 mm wider than in previous models, to gain stability. The curved "rocker" profile facilitates the transition of support and saves energy in the step.

In the lower part, the sole has three AHAR™ rubber inserts -one on the front and two on the rear in the heel- specially arranged for greater resistance to abrasion and better grip on surfaces.

Another element that contributes to the effective comfort of the shoe is PureGEL, a piece of gel that is embedded in the inner area of the heel, which due to its structure and functionality allows a soft contact with the floor and helps to take off better.

The uppers of the ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 are made with technical, flexible and reinforced fabrics in the areas with the greatest requirements, in a weft that provides advanced ventilation and guarantees breathability. The collar is knitted and padded, and adjusts properly to the ankle for a better fit. 75% of the main upper material is made with recycled content, to reduce waste and carbon emissions.

The OrthoLite ™ X-55 comfort insole is anatomical and soft, and processed with a solution dye that reduces water use by 33%, and carbon emissions by 45%, compared to conventional dye technologies.

The average weight of the pair of men's sneakers is around 290 grams while in the female models it is 255 grams.
