¿Boots or socks? The bold proposal from BOTTEGA VENETA that challenges traditional footwear production

And BOTTEGA VENETA's knitted boots are the new fashion obsession.

So proclaimed experts and fashion enthusiasts after seeing them on the main international runways, enough to predict widespread use in the upcoming winter of 2024.

The new footwear, on which there is no definitive agreement on whether they are shoes or socks, has already won over prominent celebrities who serve as trendsetters.

This collection was created by designer Matthieu Blazy in two versions: high models with "Atomic" heels and "Domenica” flat ones. In all cases, the uppers are entirely knitted in wool, with the necessary adjustments for a good fit. Due to their flexibility, the shafts mimic the shapes of the foot and leg, while underneath, they have a thin sole made of biodegradable leather. In the case of heeled models, the heels are covered with the same material as the upper.

BOTTEGA VENETA's new proposal confirms the remarkable technological development in the textile industry, which has advanced beyond traditional footwear production systems.
