The denim craze in summer. Will it continue in winter?

A fabric that, thanks to technology and design, is expanding its presence in apparel.

Denim is gaining increasing prominence in today's fashion, as it is embraced by major international brands to be featured in exclusive apparel and footwear collections.

New technologies, creativity, and enhanced design content are the factors that have elevated this material and broadened its use.

Aesthetic transformation

Beyond its classic texture and original indigo color, denim is a highly durable and resilient cotton fabric characterized by its twill weave. Recently, it has moved beyond its traditional blue, light blue, gray, and black hues to explore non-traditional tones -terracotta, olive green, orange, beige, violet, and more- while also incorporating original patterns -stripes, florals, geometrics, etc.- alongside the familiar worn, faded, and distressed finishes.

A complete reinvention for a material that was historically born as workwear, and now, with fashion embracing it, is embarking on a path of remarkable growth in the apparel market.

A bit of history

Its name originates from the French city of Nîmes, where in the 17th century, the fabric known as "serge de Nîmes" was produced, which eventually evolved into "denim." In the mid-19th century, it arrived in the United States, where Levi Strauss popularized it as workwear for California miners. Later, with the addition of metal rivets to reinforce the pockets, the iconic jeans we know today emerged.
