Fall Winter Notes for 2023

Designs

The social and habit changes that the post-pandemic has brought are also reflected in footwear. Comfort and functionality are prioritized over an aesthetic that is undergoing a thorough revision process, tending to produce new and innovative models. Based on retro, classic and futuristic references, concepts are updated that make up a very versatile proposal for daily use, something more informal and with fewer pretensions to high fashion or luxury. Within it, ankle booties and sports shoes lead the demand, accompanied by moccasins and lace-up shoes.

Footwear manages to stand out due to a good volume of lasts and soles, as well as a greater openness of color, where contrasts that enhance its appearance are frequent. Materials -skin, fur and cloth- identify the products with the season, together with an important presence of fastenings -hooks, zippers, laces, etc.-

The greater outdoor activity -hiking, running, etc.- significantly influences urban modeling, where the outdoor and athleisure style are determinants.

Materials

Beyond their appearance, winter materials must be functional for the season. Good thicknesses and closed structures are necessary for protection and warmth. For this, leather, skins, fur, lambskin, padded, felts, laminates with supports, double-sided -lamb/suede-, matelassé, cloths, crochets, etc., will be among the favorites. In finishes, semi-gloss, smooth and patterns predominate, as well as prominent textures with greater tactile richness. Reptile engravings continue, just like animal prints, with new versions of colours.

Within the textiles, tartan and striped are offered, and the typical tweeds, corduroy and old cloth. In their appearances there is a greater presence of color, especially yarns and prints in saturated tones, combined with neutrals.

The rise of sports shoes and outdoor activities requires high-density, waterproof and ripstop fabrics, such as polyesters, acrylics and ripstop.

Other options that address comfort and a better fit are elasticized materials, with elastane or spandex, such as neoprene.

Soles

Next winter will once again be the best scenario for a greater role for soles in modeling.

Volumes, shapes and colors renew their designs to highlight the footwear within the clothing set. Visually, the novelties occur in the greatest variety of colors, which add saturated and bright tonalities. Bicolor alternatives are frequent, with differentiated outsoles. Structurally, the soles are bulky, with track profiles and higher side lips and/or extensions at the toe-end and heel, enveloping the uppers. Cupsoles models continue to be very functional for different types of models, and new moldings appear on soles for a chunky style. The offer includes wedge soles, especially for training or running sports shoes, where the profiles look inclined, with a greater tread surface and a narrower "waist".

For high women's shoes, heels tend to increase volumes, within straight shapes, and are renewed in finishes, textures and colors. Double platforms and the presence of welts are increased.

Colors

The range of colors for winter opens. It is about shedding light on a long monotone period of browns and blacks, to lavish a more optimistic look on the clothing. This is how purer and more intense tonalities emerge, such as the basic reds, blues, greens and yellows, in all their variables. To accompany it, there is a wide proposal of medium, calm, relaxed and functional tones, such as beiges, olives and purples. Although the one-colour application in many footwear is booming, no less important are the combinations, which through innovative and creative compositions, achieve products with a strong visual identity, different from the traditional ones.

The trend also includes a profitable interrelation of colors, where the options are expanded, giving rise to bluish greens or vice versa, greenish yellows, pinkish beiges, bluish grays, etc.

There is a timeless use of colors, where none of them is "typical" to each season, but the game is opened to creativity without preconceptions.
