Hides and skins for winter enhance their natural appearance through original textures and porosities, where the surfaces are very flexible and soft and pleasant to the touch.

Within the finishes, opaque and semi-lucid predominate, while other finishes offer smooth and engraved alternatives. Among the latter, there are different reptilian motifs, geometric and fantasy patterns, along with decorative and retro embossing. There is a tendency to give materials greater volume, through the processes mentioned, even on smooth surfaces such as suede and nubuck, which are subjected to deep sanding or scraping to generate greater texture.

In this line of "warm" materials, double-sided sheepskin -fur/leather- and natural or synthetic wool, such as lambskin, are added to characterize winter footwear even more.

Other skins such as mouton, astrakhan pelt, fox skin or mink, expand the offer with different lengths and colors of the fur. Animal print with fur is shown as good options for this trend.

To meet the demands of the winter season, a wide assortment of woven and non-woven materials is offered for footwear. Felt, cloth, corduroy, velvet, tweed, tartan, gabardine, thin canvas, denim, are some of them, which through printing and sublimation systems, add aesthetic content.

For special requirements, embroidered, resin-coated and aged fabrics appear.

Within the outdoor, hiking and skiing trend, footwear uses reinforced materials with closed wefts with waterproof finishes, together with different nylons with padded and sewn supports.

Aesthetically, plain trendy colors and sober prints predominate, represented by decorative and geometric patterns.

Basic, old and rustic cloths will also be present in different lines of footwear, adding a retro and handcrafted imprint to the models. Its designs evoke the classic tartan, pied de poule, gingham or Prince of Wales, which are renewed through new colors.

In technological materials for application in sports and outdoor footwear, preferences are oriented towards high-performance and long-lasting products that ensure conditions of good comfort. In this sense, spandex-based elasticated, Lycra and neoprene will be among those that promote good fit, protection and warmth.

The use of ripstop fabrics for high-performance footwear continues to grow, due to its particular ripstop structure.
