As of last February, when ADIDAS expressed its intention to divest itself of REEBOK due to the low returns obtained during the pandemic, and to focus on the development of its own brand, different financial groups and international businessmen presented their purchase proposal.
The last offer received was from the AUTHENTIC BRANDS GROUP for $ 1 billion. According to reports, ABG plans to partner in this transaction with another shoe giant, WOLVERINE WORLD WIDE, both of American origin.
On the part of ADIDAS, there was still no response, because according to company sources, the amount offered is very far from the aspirations of the Germans, which are approximately 2.4 billion dollars. The good sales obtained by REEBOK in the last quarter raised its aspirations.
The novelty in the negotiations was the appearance of 3 important Asian groups dedicated to footwear and clothing: ANTA SPORTS and LI NING from China, and FILA Holdings from Korea, who showed interest, but figures for the offer are not yet known.
The 2 bidders from the United States are recognized for their large portfolio of international brands.
AUTHENTIC BRANDS GROUP owns, among others, AEROPOSTALE, AIRWALK, BANDOLINO, BROOKS BROTHERS, FOREVER 21, FRYE, JONES, NAUTICA, NINE WEST, PRINCE, VINCE CAMUTO and TRETORN.
Meanwhile, WOLVERINE WORLD WIDE controls CAT FOOTWEAR, HARLEY DAVIDSON, HUSH PUPPIES, KEDS, MERRELL, SAUCONY, SPERRY and STRIDE RITE.
