Brazilian tannery acquires industrial plant in Mexico

The automotive leather upholstery sector reflects a sustained demand in tanneries serving international clients.

At the end of 2024, DURLICOUROS, based in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, announced the acquisition of a 6.7 thousand m² production facility in León, Guanajuato, Mexico, with a processing capacity of 1.2 million hides per year. It specializes in wet blue, semi-finished, and finished leather tanning.

DURLICOUROS operates 10 industrial plants across eight Brazilian states, Paraguay, and Mexico. It is a recognized global supplier to the automotive upholstery, furniture, footwear and manufactured goods sectors. Its facilities hold LWG Gold, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949 certifications, for processes and products.

According to company executives, the new acquisition represents a strategic step in its global expansion, particularly in Guanajuato, a region with a highly developed automotive industry.
