CROCS sues WALMART for copying its clogs

The judicial presentation in US courts includes 20 more companies that also plagiarized the modeling.

Footwear with differentiated designs that are permanently copied and imitated.

In mid-July, the shoe manufacturer based in Colorado, United States, filed a lawsuit against 21 retailers, manufacturers and distributors, among which is the chain WALMART and HOBBY LOBBY, among the best known.

The reason is the intentional copying of their iconic clogs, which they say are sold for less than $ 10 a pair at different physical points and websites.

The lawsuit originated from a complaint filed with the United States International Trade Commission, which requested an investigation of the footwear illegally imported into the country, violating the CROCS trademarks.

Brand CEO Andrew Rees said "We pride ourselves on creating iconic products that are authentically CROCS, and this decisive action further demonstrates our commitment to protecting our trademarks and intellectual property."

"By blocking the importation and sale of footwear that violate trademarks, we can confidently ensure that our product DNA is fully protected as we continue to provide a unique CROCS experience to our customers and consumers."

CROCS footwear has become very popular in recent years, as consumers have prioritized comfort. Due to their different modeling and practicality reasons, they became one of the most demanded shoes during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the latest business reports, CROCS reported record quarterly revenue of US $ 640.8 million in the second quarter of 2021, 93% more than in the same period of the previous year.
