Ecological footwear with the participation of native communities
With the impulse of three Peruvian entrepreneurs, committed to the preservation of the environment, the EVEA ECO FASHION project was born that integrates 17 families belonging to three communities of the Awajún ethnicity, in the province of Condorcanqui in the Peruvian Amazon. In the 1,900 hectares that inhabit there are 1,500 shiringa trees (natural rubber) from which latex is extracted and then converted into rubber. After processing, with the sheets obtained the soles are manufactured, on which the textile cuts are mounted. Latex extraction is done rationally so that plants continue alive and regenerate.
The resulting profits are distributed equally among all project members -entrepreneurs and families- and the surplus is destined to the conservation of shiringas plantations.
