According to the supplier company for the footwear industry FCC of Campo Bom/RS, it has managed to produce a new thermoplastic compound with antiviral action, which prevents the spread of the virus through the soles of footwear.
According to the company's report, the aforementioned thermoplastic "has attributes that make viral DNA/RNA reduce its infectious capacity, and is capable of inhibiting viruses such as influenza, herpesvirus, coronavirus, among others".
“Its preventive function is permanent, even after countless washes. There is no cross-contamination between the thermoplastic and the user, thus preventing the sole from being a vehicle for transmitting the virus”, explained Júlio Schmitt, FCC's director of innovation.
The antiviral material can be used to manufacture soles, by injection processes, without altering the appearance and properties of the final products.
