FLEXI closes one of its industrial plants in Guanajuato

The closure of the facility highlights the crisis facing Mexico's footwear industry.

The footwear brand, which has a strong presence in the local market and significant export volumes, has been forced to close its plant in San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, where 500 workers were employed and approximately 10,000 pairs were produced daily. According to the state governor, the reasons for this decision stem from the impact of unfair competition and a wave of shoe imports from China, making it difficult for local products to compete. "The footwear industry in Mexico is going through a very severe crisis," he added.

FLEXI operates more than 400 sales points across the country, in addition to three industrial plants located in León, Dolores Hidalgo, and Santa Catarina, all within Guanajuato state.
