JBS paid US $ 11 million to cybercriminals


The crime meant a heavy outlay for the international group.

One of the largest leather suppliers globally, JBS of Brasil -also a world leader in meat food production- had to pay out US $ 11 million to hackers who attacked its JBS USA computer system. According to its executives, "the company decided to avoid any problems related to the attack and to ensure that no data was stolen".

In the investigation of the incident, in addition to the FBI, internal and external professionals, specialists in information technology, are involved. The presumptions point to the Russian group REvil of cybercriminals who use the name of Sodinokibi, for an action of "ransonware", for extortion purposes.
