JBS to certify its leather using Artificial Intelligence
JBS, the world’s largest leather producer, has signed an agreement with New Zealand company MINDHIVE GLOBAL to classify and certify the quality of bovine hides produced in its 21 Brazilian facilities using artificial intelligence.
The new technology processes up to 360 hides per hour per production line, with over 91% accuracy. Inspection and classification are carried out in 4 seconds per product, identifying defects in 25 categories. Installation of the equipment is expected to be completed between June and July, totaling 13 classification and selection systems.
JBS processes 7 million hides per year, which are currently inspected manually. The adoption of this technology will reduce time and ensure product quality.
