Although the pandemic caused a lower consumption of footwear in the world during 2020, the big athleisure brands favored by the trend of demand towards casual and sports products, managed to maintain the turnover levels, according to their forecasts.
The sales ranking in 2020 was led by the American NIKE, with US $ 23.3 billion, followed by the German ADIDAS with US $ 13.7 billion and PUMA with US $ 2.9 billion. In fourth place was UNDER ARMOUR with US $ 900 million, according to the statistics portal Statista.
Nasdaq's report on NIKE confirmed that the brand solidified during the pandemic as a result of new strategies of differentiated retail, massive digital growth and expansion abroad.
