Starting in June, the DASS industrial plant, located in Eldorado, Misiones, will restart the production of NIKE sneakers, which will be integrated into that of other brands such as ASICS, UNDER ARMOR and FILA.
The announcement was made when the President visited the factory, accompanied by several government officials and the Argentine ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Scioli.
At the scene, he was received by the president of the DASS Group. Vilson Hermes and the director for Latin America, Brian Handley. The Brazilian company has a total of 12 production units: 10 in Brazil and 2 in Argentina, in Eldorado, Misiones, and in Coronel Suárez, province of Buenos Aires. In both countries, it employs a total of 15 thousand workers.
Since its establishment in Argentina in 2007, the company invested US $ 160 million and at its best, at the end of 2015, it produced 22,500 pairs of sneakers per day with 1,200 people.
As of 2018, the company faced a serious crisis, due to the economic policy of that time and the drop in consumption, which led it to lay off a large part of its workforce. However, it kept a minimum staff, waiting for a change in market conditions, which would allow them to continue.
Thus, with the new policies of the current government, based on greater control of imports, the promotion of national industry and consumption, conditions were created to restart activities, with a growth projection.
In this context, investments in technology and a job recovery plan were announced, which will immediately add 30 new jobs to the current staff of 330, which will complete 650 employees by next August.
In this way, the manufacturing establishment will go from manufacturing 8 thousand pairs a day to 16 thousand in the mentioned month.
