Tannery with majority of women operators


Cueros Vélez tannery in Amagá, where female inclusion is a benchmark for the rest of the industry.
This is the establishment belonging to CUEROS VÉLEZ, located in Amagá, southwest of Medellín, where 54% of the employees are women. The 93 workers are from the region, and it is an example of inclusion, occupying operational and administrative positions. According to union leaders and the gender equity committee, "it was a tough battle, but thanks to the openness and strength of the business group, we have fulfilled this desire".

CUEROS VÉLEZ is a Colombian company that was born in 1986, with a network of stores in different Latin American countries. It currently has 4 industrial plants and 1 tannery that supplies the raw material for footwear, clothing and leather goods. 90% of the products are made internally.

The tannery, which was technologically updated in 2016, processes 30,000 hides per month.
