EFICA and EXICAL: will they begin the recovery of the sector?
From 2pm to 9pm. of Sunday 12 and from 12 a.m. to 9 p.m. of Monday 13 and Tuesday 14, the 102nd edition of EFICA will open its doors, the event that brings together the main Argentine footwear brands and factories.
The place chosen will be the Costa Salguero fairground in Buenos Aires, and the Fall-Winter 2020 collections will be exhibited on the occasion.
It is estimated that 120 exhibitors will participate, occupying approximately 160 stands, to receive about 4,000 buyers from all over the country and abroad.
As usual, the offer will include all women, men and children footwear lines, while there will be a high-end space dedicated to footwear with greater added value of design and quality.
Industrialists, businessmen and leaders of the sector await with marked expectation the announcements and measures that the new government authorities will take regarding the industrial policy that will influence the activity and consumption.
As expressed by the main candidates in their previous campaigns, from where the next president of the country will emerge, most of the forecasts coincide that the footwear industry can start a new recovery period, despite the complexity and severity of the economic situation.
What is still unknown, due to the recent changes, are the implementation times and their entry into force to generate concrete results.
In recent years, the Argentine footwear industry, a sector composed mostly of SMEs, has reported a significant operating decline as a result of reduced consumption. The consequences were numerous closures of manufacturing establishments that have caused “more than 12 thousand layoffs in these 4 years,” said the deputy secretary of UTICRA, the entity that groups footwear workers.
The exhibition in Córdoba, organized by the local footwear chamber and Santa Fe, will be held at the Forja fairground, on Sunday and Monday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
At the fair, exhibit their products shoe and leather goods manufacturers, and suppliers throughout the country, mostly from Buenos Aires capital and province. There is a forecast for the participation of more than 170 exhibitors and the arrival of 3 thousand buyers.
Due to its geographical position -to the center of the country-, the fair in Córdoba ensures a more diversified call, due to the greater ease of access that buyers from different parts of the national territory have.
