The latest edition of Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags, held in Riva del Garda, Italy, from January 10 to 13, 2026, was described by analysts as the edition of “diversification” and the consolidation of new markets, delivering positive results for both exhibitors and visitors.
Nearly 8,000 professionals attended the event. While there was a slight decline in traditional markets such as Italy, Germany and France, significant growth was recorded among buyers from Poland, Belgium and Slovenia, as well as emerging markets including Chile, Colombia and Kenya.
A total of 1,057 companies from 40 countries participated as exhibitors. Spain had a strong presence with around 40 companies (representing 60 brands), alongside Portugal, while Brazil participated with 29 exhibitors.
From Latin America, Colombia took part with a footwear stand, as did Argentina, which brought two delegations of footwear and leather goods manufacturers, occupying two stands: one at Expo Riva Schuh and another at Gardabags.
This edition was particularly significant as it was presented under the concept of “Affinity Globalisation,” reflecting a market in which partnerships are no longer driven solely by low cost, but also by stability and shared values.
Buyers reported a more flexible approach from manufacturers regarding minimum order quantities, adapting to the needs of an increasingly digital and fragmented retail.
Notably, a marked increase in the presence of e-commerce operators was recorded, confirming that the fair is no longer limited to large brick-and-mortar chains, but is also geared toward the global digital ecosystem.
