EXPOCAIPIC: contact with suppliers from Argentine

After the experience of the virtual fair, the organization awaits the second semester of 2021 to try the face-to-face event.

Will the EXPOCAIPIC images be repeated in 2021? The sector waits.

Beyond the significant damage caused by the pandemic in 2020 to the entire chain of shoe suppliers-manufacturers-merchants, in 2021 the sector is about to slowly restart a recovery cycle due to the advent of vaccination and the maintenance of health controls via protocols.

EXPOCAIPIC, the only supplier fair for the footwear and manufacturing industry in Argentina, which was held twice a year, coinciding with the beginning of both seasons (Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter), necessarily in 2020 had to suspend its editions because of the pandemic.

The organizing entity CAIPIC, footwear suppliers industry association, continued to work in the assistance of its associates and perform from the first days of November to mid-December 2020 its virtual fair EXPOCAIPIC DIGITAL, which had the participation of 25 companies that received approximately 6,800 visits.
Although exhibitors and organizers expressed their satisfaction for holding the event at a time of restricted circulation and isolation, those close to the sector stated that "it was difficult to quantify concrete results in an activity that requires a lot of presence."

Implementation possibilities

When the CAIPIC directors were consulted about the future edition of EXPOCAIPIC, they responded that they are evaluating different options, and that decisions will be made according to the evolution of the health situation.

"As we were informed from Costa Salguero -the property that the fair usually occupied in Buenos Aires-, from the second semester of 2021 there are possibilities that the fair activity will be reactivated," they commented from CAIPIC.

"In this sense, another alternative that is being analyzed is the holding of the fair in a smaller venue or room, where with protocol measures the event can be carried out and provide security to the participants."

To ensure presence

Meanwhile, in order for partners to maintain their presence in the market, the suppliers association is planning a special area on its website, easily accessible, for companies to publish their product catalogs and contact details.

"This is one more alternative to make the offer of Argentine suppliers visible, not only in the domestic market, but also internationally," they said from CAIPIC.

The face-to-face need

Required opinions of different members of the footwear chain on the importance of the supplier fair and its face-to-face modality, the majority agreed on the referential and commercial value that it has, because it offers the possibility of knowing trends, materials, components, technology, new suppliers or customers and conducting business.

In this aspect, it is almost unanimous preference for the physical event, where essence and significance of footwear, actors need presentiality. Evidenced by the experience, which design, plan, manufacture and market a shoe requires personal, face or physical participation.

It is seen that in the sector, one of the most effective links between the members of the chain are the specialized physical fairs where the products can be seen, touched and felt. Either a leather, a fabric, a sole or an accessory.
In addition to personally interacting with the interlocutors, which is often often a deciding factor for business.
However, there is consensus in the industry about the importance of the digital and virtual, and its future projection. And it is recognized as essential to maintain connectivity and activity in all areas of life.
