EXPOCAIPIC is back! long-awaited reunion of shoe suppliers with the market
The great applause of the participants at the end of the event was eloquent about the significance that the supplier fair had for its exhibitors and visitors. There was general satisfaction, dominated by the emotional fact of the reunion, which in the end is the best incentive for resuming business.
In a smaller version than usual, as it is a post-pandemic restart, the exhibition had all the necessary ingredients to satisfy the visitors, who visited the site in search of launches of materials, components and accessories for the next season. Autumn-Winter 2022.
9 exhibitors of machinery were present; 6 of leathers; 6 of components; 5 of soles; 4 of synthetics and fabrics; 3 of accessories; 2 chemical products; plus 15 stands of services, institutions and specialized press. In total there were 50 exhibitors who occupied 95 stands under a 3,600 m2 site.
The fair took place in Hall 5 of Costa Salguero in the city of Buenos Aires, on Tuesday 19, Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 October 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The convocation exceeded 1,600 people, including footwear and leather goods manufacturers, designers, industry professionals and commercial representatives from the main producing poles of Argentina, accompanied by visitors from neighboring countries.
Simultaneously with the exhibition activity, an interesting program of conferences and technical talks was held in the EXPOCAIPIC auditorium, which were well attended by the public. Topics such as circular economy in industry were discussed; materials for the footwear industry; expanded compound technology; autumn-winter 2022 fashion trends and sustainability in the leather value chain.

After various consultations and opinions gathered at the fair, a renewed confidence about the recovery of the sector could be perceived in the light of the latest official figures on production and consumption.
The footwear industry was one of the most affected during the pandemic period, and given the gradual flexibilisations of activities, due to greater epidemiological control, via vaccination and circulation, productions have begun to grow, as demand evolves.
Beyond the general political and economic issue of the country, which is decisive when it comes to its development, there has been a greater pragmatism of the industrialists that tends to overcome the historical and chronic cycles of the Argentine economy, to adapt to a changing reality, which is not only the country, but also the global market, deeply reversed by the pandemic.
The final balance of EXPOCAIPIC was very positive for all its participants due to the momentum that it meant to regain presence in the sector, with prospects of recovering previous levels of business and activity.
Based on this, authorities and staff of CAIPIC, the organizer of the fair, are already working on the planning of the next event in May 2022, with the novelties of Spring-Summer 2022/23. For this opportunity, it is expected to have a massive participation of Argentine suppliers, taking into account that EXPOCAIPIC is an important benchmark of the local industry and of countries in the region, with which there are positive projections to expand markets.
