Footwear event in New York suspended due to Omicron impact

Faced with the wave of more than a million daily infections, its organizers decided to move it to June 2022.

A major footwear trade event in the United States, on hiatus until June 2022.

Originally planned from February 7th to 11th, 2022, FFANY MARKET WEEK, which brings together national and international footwear manufacturers and brands in New York City, the two entities responsible for its organization: FDRA -Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America- and FFANY -Fashion Footwear Association of New York- announced its postponement to June 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th.

The measure was taken due to the exponential increase in infections of the Omicron variant of coronavirus that affects the entire country, which in the first days of January 2022 exceeded one million daily cases. The directors of both organizations pointed out that in the face of the uncertain evolution of the pandemic, the changes are constant, and the entire sector will be permanently informed.

They also confirmed that many retail buyers from different states across the country, have ruled out their plans to travel to New York, due to disruptions in the supply chain, changes in order timing and all restrictions related to the Omicron strain.

From FDRA and FFANY they commented that they have information on many companies that have set up independent showrooms in New York, with limited appointments and protocols, as well as that they will attend regional fairs. In this regard, they recommended to the exhibitors for the proper care of their employees and participants, wishing good results in their businesses.
