Despite the pandemic, GALLERY SHOES was held in Düsseldorf
The International Footwear and Accessories Fair was held from March 8th to 10th, at the Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf, Germany. In the context of Coronavirus expansion, the Igedo Company -organizer of the event- decided to keep the date of the event.
This initiative was supported by the Federal Association of the German Footwear and Leather Goods Industry (HDS/L, in German), in addition to the Federal Association of German Footwear Retail Trade (BDSE). At the same time, they had the endorsement of the city's Department of Public Health and the Neuss Rhine District Regional Office. One of the arguments for carrying out the exhibition was that GALLERY SHOES was not comparable, in terms of volume of exhibitors and visitors, with the other events postponed at that time.
Before the event, measures were taken regarding the participation and search for solutions for 70 Italian exhibitors, some of whom could not be part of the fair.
In its 6th edition, which expected the presence of 400 exhibitors representing more than 600 brands, finally it had a total of 360 exhibitors, with products from 500 brands.
Among the visitors, there was a significant participation of retailers, who fulfilled the meetings previously scheduled with exhibitors, according to the president of the footwear retail sector entity (BDSE) -Brigitte Wischnewski-.
For this fair edition, the organization prepared a space for multiple purposes, which included activities such as conferences and fashion shows.
In this sense, the varied program of dissertations was focused on the trends for the Autumn/Winter 2020-2021 season and its 20 essentials, as well as projections for Spring/Summer 2021.
The agenda also covered topics such as sustainability and retail trade; while at the conference of the Federal Association of the German Footwear and Leather Goods Industry was provided data about industry, in addition to the trade panorama offered by the Federal Association of German Footwear Retail Trade, among other dissertations.
Between participating brands at Gallery Shoes Selected Show were HAFLINGER, SCHWANGAU, WONDERS, FRED DE LA BRETONIÈRE SHABBIES AMSTERDAM and BGENTS. The fashion shows of these exhibiting companies anticipated the advances for Autumn/Winter 2020-2021.
The 7th version of GALLERY SHOES will take place between Sunday 30th, Monday 31st August and Tuesday 1st September at the Areal Böhler exhibition center in Düsseldorf, Germany.
