The international supply and demand of footwear converge in MICAM of Italy

Various factors combine to encourage a good performance of Latin American exhibitors.

The largest international footwear event will be reissued as an active business and fashion platform for the sector.

From September 15 to 18, will be held at the Milano Rho fairground of Milan, Italy, the largest international event dedicated to footwear.

This is the 88th edition of MICAM, which turns 50 and is organized by ASSOCALZATURIFICI, the Italian association of footwear manufacturers.

Its importance lies in the voluminous and diversified offer made up of manufacturers from more than 30 countries. In addition to the commercial aspect, the fair is a strong reference of trends worldwide and a knowledge acquisition forum. Will be held countless catwalks, design competitions and there will be special spaces for emerging creativity. This proposal will be added a massive call of operators from different regions and countries, with high power and purchasing decision.

More than 1,400 exhibitors will participate, of which 800 will be Italian and the rest from abroad.
The fair will cover an area of 63 thousand m2 and the visit of about 43 thousand people is awaited. 85% of the total comes from Europe, 9% from Asia, 2% from North America, 1.6% from Africa, 1% from South America and 0.5% from Oceania.
In addition to most Italian exhibitors, the representations of Spain (174 companies), Portugal (80 companies), Turkey, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, among others, will be relevant.
For Latin America, the most important delegation will be the Brazilian with 76 companies, followed by the Argentine with 10 exhibitors.

Good prospects for Latin American exhibitors

Taking into account the current exchange parity, where the dollar is overvalued compared to some Latin American currencies, different exhibitors encourage better competitiveness conditions.
Other factors that may favor the insertion of Latin American products in the international market are the imminent Mercosur trade agreement with the European Union, and the Chinese-American trade war that promotes the emergence of alternative suppliers.
On the part of Brazil, the expectations are better, because in this edition of MICAM it will be the launch of the Spring-Summer collections, a specialty of the Brazilian industry.
