SIMAC-TANNING TECH exhibited the new technologies for the sector

For attendance and content, the event was confirmed as the largest reference for the leather-footwear-manufactures chain.

Despite the economic uncertainty experienced in various regions of the world and the health problems generated by the progress of the coronavirus, the fair ended with positive results for exhibitors and visitors.

It was held from February 19th to 21st, in continuity and simultaneously to MICAM, the footwear fair that took place from 17th to 20th of the same month. The SIMAC-TANNING TECH date also coincided with that of LINEAPELLE, the largest fair of leather, skins, components, materials and accessories for footwear and manufactures.

The fact that the 4 fairs (MICAM, MIPEL, LINEAPELLE and SIMAC-TANNING TECH) -from February 17th to 21st- have been carried out continuously and jointly, created a unique synergy, which allowed attracting visitors from different continents (except many Asians) who had the opportunity to obtain an integral vision of the sector, from suppliers to manufacturers of finished products.

Diversified offer

There were 324 exhibitors from 25 countries that occupied pavilions 14 and 18 of Milano Rho. The majority of local origin -italians- were accompanied by companies from Germany, the United States, France, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain, Austria, Brazil, Taiwan, China, India, Japan, Sweden, South Africa and Switzerland, among others.

For exhibitors, the number of visitors exceeded expectations, and especially for the quality of demand.

Confirm a successful edition

"We are very happy with the results of this edition," said ASSOMAC President Gabriella Marchioni Bocca, "especially in view of the circumstances and the current economic trends and the global medical emergency. We recorded good assistance from all markets, with the understandable exception of China. The interest in innovations and sustainable solutions and the fact that the event was held simultaneously with Lineapelle, Micam and Mipel represented a strong attraction for the industry. “

Technology for all needs

The proposal consisted of a wide variety of machines and cutting and sewing systems; equipment to assemble footwear in all its operations; injection machines for components and footwear; CAD-CAM systems with new softwares; leather and skins treatment equipment; tools and accessories, automation services and chemicals, among many other options.

Sustainability: a predominant theme

The highlight of the general offer was the greatest concern for the sustainability aspect of the technology, which in the case of Italy, ASSOMAC, the entity that groups the machine builders, carries out an intensive awareness and training program among its partners to achieve productions with savings of natural resources, lower energy expenditure and low CO2 emission.

In this regard, the president of ASSOMAC said that "current production processes must implement technological solutions that are sustainable from an ethical, social and environmental point of view if they want to compete in the global market."

The most innovative

The new technology trends for manufacturing industries -footwear, leather goods, clothing, etc.- indicate a greater degree of automation in the processes, with their consequent robotization. This has generated the emergence of new software capable of integrating functions in all phases of industrialization: from planning, programming, preparation, production, storage and distribution. It is the path to industry 4.0.

There is also a greater commitment to sustainability and the environment, which translates into equipment with lower resource consumption and in line with the preservation of nature.
