The German brand left 40 employees without their labor source, as a result of the closure of the manufacturing plant located in Chilecito, province of La Rioja. According to the company, the measure was intended to sustain 800 jobs and the validity of the firm, through a "productive efficiency" in the face of technological changes in the manufacture of chapel.
In 2016, 200 employees lost their job sources after the closure of HERZO, a Puntana company that supplied PUMA. With the cessation of activities in Sanagasta -La Rioja- in 2017, another 100 workers were laid off, among other layoffs.
Currently, the company has almost 460 employees in La Rioja, compared to 980 in previous years, according to the general secretary of the Union of Footwear Industry Workers of that province -Saul Carrizo- to Bae Negocios.
