Brazilian company CURTUME CBR S.A., located in La Rioja, which took over the YOMA excurtiembre, has 800 workers and the total production, more than 90% volume was destined for sales abroad. However, the tannery remains inactive for five months, according to its managers, the inability to export because of the pandemic.
The serious situation also affects the entire staff of workers who do not regularly collect their salaries.
To resume its activities, the tannery requested financial assistance from the provincial and national governments for US $ 15 million, which later decreased to US $ 7 million.
From the Ministry of Productive Development, they detailed that an aid of that amount of money is not evaluated, but rather measures such as REPRO -State Assistance Program-, according to official sources.
