Critical situation in the footwear industry
The president of the CIC and representative of SMEs in the Industrial Organization of Argentina (UIA in Spanish) -Alberto Sellaro- stated that current consumption is experiencing significant deterioration. He mentioned that there is no market for either domestic or imported footwear.
Despite this, Sellaro pointed out that millions of pairs of shoes are being imported from China, Brazil, Taiwan, and Indonesia, according to reports from Agenda Pyme.
Regarding production, the companies are not operational, with the exception of two working days per week for those manufacturing safety footwear.
