DANGEROUS. By quarantine extension, informality grows in the footwear sector
The phenomenon is happening in the main shoe manufacturing areas of Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Rosario, where by the extension of the quarantine and financial and operational difficulties, many formal establishments are having trouble restarting their activities.
This situation has been taken advantage of by numerous informal workshops and factories, generally linked to family nuclei, which provide footwear to a commercial circuit that is also irregular, which despite the drop in sales, continues to serve the minimum purchases of certain consumer segments.
Officials and representatives of formalized industries have informed the relevant authorities and asked to establish immediate controls on this modality, which has become unfair competition, which will further exacerbate the difficult situation of the formal sector.
They also emphasized that, in addition to the economic issue, it has very serious health implications, since work without due control and not complying with protocols is a focus of the virus's spread.
