DASS announces 360 layoffs due to plant closure in Coronel Suárez
The Dass Group, manufacturer of sports shoes for Adidas, Nike, Fila and Umbro, confirmed the shutdown of its production facility in Coronel Suárez, Buenos Aires Province. The decision, impacting 360 employees, is attributed to high manufacturing costs, declining demand, and reduced protection against imports.
Workers, who were on vacation as part of a low-productivity agreement negotiated with UTICRA, received termination notices stating that operations would cease as of January 20, 2025.
At the beginning of January, the Ministry of Labor of Buenos Aires Province was working to schedule meetings between the parties involved in an effort to preserve the affected jobs, according to union sources.
