Because of the continuous rise in shoe prices, within a highly inflationary framework, and the consequent and pronounced loss of purchasing power among the population due to the serious political and economic crisis, Argentine consumers are seeking alternatives to stay decently shod.
Thus, the activity of the traditional "cobbler", who usually specializes in shoe repair, has unexpectedly resurfaced. Most of those consulted have confirmed a strong increase in their services, with cases where the volume of clients and jobs has doubled.
They also agree that changes in habits, which have led to increased consumption of informal or sports products over formal footwear, have triggered more requests for repairs of sneakers made of synthetic and textile materials than leather shoes.

On the part of the manufacturing sector, the wait continues for economic decisions, which will ultimately depend on wage increases to revive consumption.
