Footwear and textiles: customs labeling control eliminated
Resolutions 156/2024 and 159/2024 regarding the labeling of imported footwear and textiles were published in the Official Gazette. Thus, customs control over labels was eliminated by the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce.
From now on, and prior to the commercialization of the products, it will be the companies that must provide guarantees on the existence of the labeling. Then, the Undersecretariat of Consumer Defense and Commercial Loyalty will carry out an ex post inspection, according to the State's website.
The purpose of this modification is to make imports easier, while reducing the cost of bureaucracy.
