Footwear deductions in Mercosur-European Union Agreement

The tariff positions that are part of the Agreement between Mercosur and the European Union were disseminated by the national government. With the signing of the agreement, the text that is currently informative will assume its defining character.

In the negotiations, some tariff headings were excepted, such as the one of the Waterproof Footwear; Sports shoes with sole and upper of plastic and rubber; and Footwear with Textile Upper. They will keep 35% taxes.

20% of taxes on ski footwear with sole and upper of plastic or rubber, or leather upper, will be reduced to 0% over the course of 10 years. On the other hand, shoe with leather upper, and those of metallic box toe or flip flops with sole and upper of plastic or rubber will have a period of 15 years until canceling the 35% tax, among other examples, according to the Chamber of the Footwear Industry (CIC).
