Imports of Brazilian footwear and leather increased
Between January-November 2021, imports of Brazilian footwear reached 11.7 million pairs, for a total of US $ 100.9 million. Compared to the same months of the previous year, there were increases of 67.5% and 52.2% respectively. In addition, the value per pair was US $ 8.56 average, with a 9.2% drop, according to figures provided by SECEX and released by ABICALÇADOS -Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries-.
For its part, the purchase of hides and skins was 688,138 square meters, which translated into an increase of 44.7%; while the value stood at US $ 6.9 million, an increase of 94.7%. This was reported by the Center of the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) based on data from SECEX.
