Layoffs at TOPPER
The former Alpargatas factory is located in Aguilares, Tucumán province. At the end of last February, 85 employees were laid off out of over a thousand directly hired workers.
Contracts do not reach a year of seniority and are characterized as temporary, as workers were needed due to significant demand. Currently, there is a 40% contraction in local sales of footwear, clothing, and textiles, which led to the layoffs.
The information was confirmed by the company itself and by the Union of Workers of the Footwear Industry of the Argentine Republic (UTICRA), as reported by La Gaceta.
