Positive projections for footwear manufacturing
According to data provided by IES Consultores, in the first two months of 2021, footwear manufacturing reached 12 million pairs, this is 4.3% more compared to the same period in 2020. In addition, consumption per inhabitant was similar to that of last year, which stood at 1.9 pairs, registering a 7.8% drop.
Exports did not show great variations from year to year, and the value obtained in the first two months totaled US $ 1 million. Footwear imports were 37.7% lower, with businesses reaching US $ 38 million.
The consultancy firm foresees a production of 80 million pairs by 2021, which, compared to 2020, would be 14.3% more.
