Recovery of production and consumption

The Weekly Economic report of the Footwear Sector prepared and informed by IES Consultores, determined an annual growth in production of 33. 6% during the first four-month period of 2022, thus reaching 33.4 million pairs.

Among the factors that benefited the positive variation, the lack of foreign currency for the acquisition of imported final products and more tariff protection, added to the substitution of imports and a growing internal demand, stood out.

By the end of the year, it is estimated that 95 million pairs will be produced, which would mean a recovery of 26.7%.

For its part, apparent consumption was 44.3 million pairs in the same period, 45% more compared to the same months of 2021. The increase was also registered in units per person (+43%), totaling 2.9 pairs.
