The SME Retail Sales Index determined that the FOOTWEAR AND LEATHER GOODS sector experienced a year-on-year growth of 4.3% in September 2023, driven by early sales thanks to positive weather conditions.
In October, the positive variation was 6.6% compared to the same month in 2022, propelled by the celebration of Mother's Day and the low comparison base from the previous year, as reported by the Argentine Confederation of Medium-Sized Enterprises (CAME).
Meanwhile, the sector recorded a 1.3% increase for November, with good sales aided by interest-free financing and notable performance in tourist cities; however, in December, there was a contraction of 9.1%. Overall, 2023 saw a 0.4% increase compared to 2022.
