The footwear sector's perspective

For Horacio Moschetto, secretary of the Footwear Chamber, the responsibility for labeling lies with the importer.

In response to the removal of customs controls on labeling for imported footwear and textiles, Horacio Moschetto, General Secretary of the Chamber of the Footwear Industry (CIC), stated to the press: "We see something that is confusing and not right because the retailer does not have all the supporting documentation for the importation of the goods."

He explained that the import data is not in the hands of retailers but rather the importer. Additionally, Moschetto emphasized that inspections at the point of sale are more cumbersome than at the time of product entry.

"Regarding labeling, the label includes mandatory information, such as the producer, the tax identification number (CUIT), and the composition of materials, all of which are in the customs declaration and should be checked at Customs," concluded Moschetto.
