Trying on clothes and shoes is allowed in shopping centers and stores

The measure tends to facilitate the practice of purchasing these products, which was limited by protocol.

The opening of the regulation to try on footwear and clothes expands the possibilities of sales.

In the case of two sectors where trying on the products in most cases is essential, the new regulations will facilitate and significantly speed up their sale and purchase at the end of the year.

Although this license was carried out in different commercial circuits in the interior of the country and in areas with little effect from Covid-19, its formal entry into force as of December 12th, has an effect on the large urban centers of Argentina, mainly in Buenos Aires, where it is estimated that there are 15 large shopping centers with 5,000 stores.

The inactivity in the clothing and footwear business structure during the pandemic strongly affected sales and the supply chain. From March to October, when they remained closed, many stores in shopping centers and malls could not be maintained and became extinct as sources of employment. As pointed out by CASC, the Argentine chamber of shopping centers, 25% had to permanently close their doors or transfer their property or rent.

The new measure to try on clothing and footwear, effective from December 12th, in sectors with a majority presence in these shopping centers, opens up good sales expectations, on the way to their normalization.

The protocols implemented in its reopening in October 2020 continue to govern the activity, which include taking the temperature of visitors and the mandatory use of face masks, the staying capacity of people according to surfaces, with adequate air circulation and sanitizing elements, and the respective signage and controls that regulate its operation.

In the case of clothes and footwear, the security measures for the use of fitting rooms require that customers enter with face masks and sanitize their hands before and after using the spaces.

Due to the advent of year-end shopping, most shopping centers have extended their business hours. For example, from December 21st to 23rd they will remain open from 12 a.m. to midnight.
