ASSINTECAL: 42 years promoting Brazilian suppliers

The entity represents 3,000 companies employing over 80,000 people across Brazil.

ASSINTECAL created INSPIRAMAIS, one of the most important events for the supply sector at both regional and international levels.

The Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods -ASSINTECAL- was founded on June 8, 1983.

Headquartered in Novo Hamburgo/RS, the organization has promoted the supplier sector both domestically and abroad since its inception, achieving significant results in the international market and gaining strong positioning and a steady business flow. Within Brazil, it has played a vital role supporting the main industrial clusters through training and knowledge programs.

The milestone in ASSINTECAL's history was the creation of INSPIRAMAIS, the leading trade show for suppliers to the footwear, manufactured goods, apparel, furniture, and accessories industries in Latin America, held alternately in São Paulo/SP and Porto Alegre/RS.

The show delivers valuable content and fashion concepts and is widely recognized by the regional and international industry, as evidenced by its increasing visitor numbers.

Another major achievement was the launch of the Sustainable Origin program in 2013, developed jointly with ABICALÇADOS (the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association), which certifies companies in the footwear production chain for their ESG practices (ethical, inclusive, and sustainable operations). More than 110 companies are already certified, with others in the process, marking a global milestone. “Today, we are the country with the most sustainable component and footwear industry in the world. And we owe that to the tireless work begun over 12 years ago,” noted Aline Santos, ASSINTECAL’s Marketing and Relations Manager.

Through the Brazilian Materials program, promoted in partnership with APEX BRASIL, the association has helped internationalize Brazil’s proposal, expanding its reach to more than 70 countries while continuing to supply the domestic market.

According to Silvana Dilly, ASSINTECAL’s Superintendent: “Brazilian Materials allowed us to work not only on commercial promotion, events and international programs that bring importers to Brazil, but also on tools for training our companies. Export-oriented work also ultimately benefits companies' competitiveness, as it prepares them for the challenges of more competitive markets than their domestic counterparts."
