Brazilian industry analyzes U.S. tariffs
The recent decision by U.S. President Donald Trump to apply an additional 10% tariff on Brazilian footwear imports has generated mixed reactions within the sector.
With this adjustment, the average tariff on Brazilian products entering the U.S. rose from 17.3% to 27.3%, according to data published by the representative entity in early April.
For ABICALÇADOS, the measure could present an opportunity, considering that Asian competitors will face even higher duties. However, it also warns that increased pressure on Asian exports may redirect their products to the Brazilian market or other markets relevant to Brazil.
