Consequences of the pandemic in the footwear sector

According to the Sectorial Report of the Footwear Industry published by ABICALÇADOS, the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries, various factors affected the sector throughout the pandemic.

In 2020, the closure of shops was the main negative factor for the industry, followed by the contraction in turnover and the fall in demand, according to a survey carried out in February 2021 by the entity, to know the considerations of entrepreneurs.

Forecasts for 2021 focus on rising costs, shrinking demand and closing stores.
