Divergent perspectives for the leather industry
In early October, the Economic Outlook event was held by ASSINTECAL in Novo Hamburgo/RS. The aim was to analyze the negative effects on production chains in various sectors due to the national and international macroeconomic context.
Initially, Arthur Müller -investment manager at Sicredi Pioneira- stated that inflation from the Russia-Ukraine war, high interest rates, and the contraction of the global economy affected Brazilian exports.
On the other hand, Marcos Lélis -sector consultant and Ph.D. in Economics- projected growth for the leather sector in 2023. The range varies from -1.2% in the pessimistic scenario to 2.3% in the optimistic scenario, driven by the favorable evolution of China, as reported by ASSINTECAL.
