Employment in the footwear industry grew

The greater productive activity has allowed the incorporation of new jobs.
ABICALÇADOS reported that there are 282,800 direct workers in the footwear industry as of October 2021, after exceeding the 37 thousand jobs generated in the first ten months of the year. The total represents an increase of 13% compared to the same period in 2020.

The creation of jobs is the consequence of a reactivated internal demand, improvements in exports, opening of face-to-face shops and the lesser impact of the pandemic, according to Haroldo Ferreira, executive president of the entity.

Rio Grande do Sul surpassed the 10,000 jobs created in that period of time, being the largest employer in the industry, with 85,000 workers. It is followed by the state of Ceará, which incorporated 3,500 workers and accumulates 62,300 employees; and Bahía, with 8,600 new jobs and 35,700 jobs in total.
