Footwear production faces economic challenges in 2025
Unfair competition from Asian footwear, driven by global e-commerce, is one of the main challenges that the footwear industry in Brazil will continue to face. Haroldo Ferreira -executive president of ABICALÇADOS-, emphasized the importance of protecting local manufacturers against predatory practices.
In addition, the high interest rate discourages investment in the footwear industry, while domestic consumption remains sluggish due to household debt.
Ferreira also warned about the negative effects of the payroll tax reinstatement in 2025, stating that this measure will limit job creation and industry growth, according to the association's report.
