Increase production and employment fell
Data provided by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported a 1.2% growth in the production of footwear in the first four months of the year, comparatively with the same four-month period of 2018. The good performance was thanks to the trend April bullish (8.5%), the first uptick of 2019.
In the other hand, employment fell 4.1% between January and May, according to the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE). The footwear industry has 280,522 sources of work and 9,446 were created in the first five months of the year, reported from ABICALÇADOS.
