Increased footwear imports

The quantity of footwear from Myanmar and Cambodia tripled.

The influx of footwear into Brazil saw a 4.4% increase in the first three months of 2024, with shipments totaling 10.3 million pairs, according to data provided by SECEX. In terms of value, there was a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2023, reaching US$ 125.4 million in business.

The noteworthy aspect is the exports from Myanmar and Cambodia, which tripled during this period, beyond the dominance of Asian countries as suppliers. According to Haroldo Ferreira, executive president of ABICALÇADOS, "It's a point of attention that indicates production may be shifting within Asia," as reported by the entity.
