Leather industry recovers jobs


The Brazilian leather industry currently employs almost 30,000 workers and is looking to increase its exports.

In the first two months of 2023, a total of 29,967 workers were part of the leather industry, which represented a positive variation of 1.4% compared to the figures from 2022. In this regard, 418 jobs were created in the first two months of the year, 336 in January and 82 in February.

In addition, the main employing state was Paraná, with 151 new jobs, according to information prepared and released by CICB.

Employment performance in the sector was negative in 2022, showing a slowdown of 2.1% compared to the previous year. In total, there were 29,944 jobs recorded, 633 less than in 2021, according to data provided by MTP-NOVO CAGED.
