Sector projections for 2021

On April 15th, ABICALÇADOS carried out the Scenario Analysis event, virtually. In this context, Priscila Linck -the entity's Market Intelligence coordinator- stated that, during this year, the increase in footwear production could be around 12%. Compared to 2019, this would translate into a 7% drop, in the most optimistic context.

Regarding employment, a 6% growth is expected compared to last year, when the total number of jobs amounted to 247.7 thousand.

The estimates for exports are also indicators that do not reach the pre-pandemic figures. By 2021, the increase would be around 13%, thanks to the fact that the real suffered a devaluation against the dollar. Even so, the year would close with a 6% retraction compared to the prepandemic, reported from the association.
