Suppliers explore sustainable materials for the footwear industry

Indigenous communities from remote regions serve as a source of inspiration for Brazilian fashion through their manufactured goods.

Between November 25 and December 4, ASSINTECAL led Missão Pará, an initiative focused on exploring sustainable materials for the footwear sector.

The mission included technical visits to Santarém, Mojuí dos Campos, Belterra, and the district of Alter do Chão, with representatives from Assintecal and Sebrae Regional Pará and Baixo Amazonas.

According to Walter Rodrigues, coordinator of Assintecal’s Design and Research Center, the initiative allowed for the identification of high-potential materials, many already produced by local communities, while also surveying the territorial identity of the region with a bioeconomy-oriented approach.

This project is part of the Integra Moda agreement, in collaboration with the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (SEBRAE), according to ASSINTECAL.
